Handheld support (Quad Pod or Varizoom?)

Hi, I'm looking to alleviate some of the fatigue I experience with handheld shooting (using a HVX200). My budget is under $500. It looks like the Quad Pod (Pro or HD Pro) might be good OR possibly the Varizoom VZ-LSP. I'm not concerned with steadicam smooth shots - I'm more interested in lightening the load on my back and arms.

I like to have one hand on the zoom ring and I would like to adjust camera height quickly. It seems the Quad Pod is simple and relieves some of the weight just by looking at the pictures.

I own the Fig-Rig - even though it's smooth it does not reduce the stress on me.

Can anyone offer any advice and/or experience using these or any other type of system?

thank you.

I've got the IndiRails Pro XVsm. I REALLY like it, but I must add that with any shoulder support, you're not going to take away the fatigue unless you do something to balance the weight out on your rig. First few times I used my shoulder support, my arms were killing me cuz I had to support ALL of the weight with my arms. The shoulder mount was so far back on the rig that my shoulder did very little supporting.

So, I would recommend that you do what you can to put weight on the rear part of the shoulder mount rig...you really want the fulcrum of the weight on your shoulder.

Just something to think about: )

Like Mike said the best thing you can do is to balance your rig. Put the weight on your shoulder and not on your arms. Without balance it will just be steadier and just as fatiguing. Look at the setups zacuto has on their website for good examples of ways to balance your rig. Alot of things that you could do with much cheaper equipment although the stuff from zacuto is worth it IMO.
