handheld moving shot >> walking technique?

Hi there,

I want to do a handheld following shot. I'll put my camera on a heavy tripod to minimize the shakiness. However, after doing some test runs I can still see the camera move up and down when I step. Does anybody have any tips or techniques for walking as to minimize the handheld effect?

With Tai Chi Walking you do not bounce as you walk, but glide forward with your legs ALWAYS slightly bent. It take practice to get good at this...

an old eng camera mans trick for walk and talks is to stay in step with the talent.

when they step, you step and the talents head and the camera go up and down at the same time.
