Hand Held Doc Style with Adaptor?

I know HH with an adaptor for any length of time is difficult--impossible? Any specific recommendations for set-up (including monitor to flip the image)? I've read many threads that provide some information but "you can totally run and gun with the Brevis" isn't specific enough for me.

This whole thing is run and gun with the DVX and Brevis, this weekend I will be shooting HVX and Brevis the same way. All I had with me was my camera bag and the pelican the Brevis comes in which my daughter held most of the day. No rails either. I use a little magnet for the flip. I would do this setup for anything doc style of shooting.

What film effects? If you are talking about the colors, its all camera with a slight boost in gamma just to bring the colors up a tad in post. Quick and easy.

hmmm, i screwed my scene settings up, how do i reset them. or do i press the little reset button on the side. i know what you mean, but im afraid to mess something up messing with settings. gamma gives it that look. i do it with magic bullet. but its better with camera

Sorry, no magic bullet anywhere near that image but that seems like a complement because if I can get that without plugins, then I must be doing something right. By the way, I do say when I use it in my work. The last basketball game I shot I used it to soften the highlights but I mention that in the post.

I don't mean the camera gamma, I mean the gamma controls in After effects which is called curves. Just add a VERY slight S curve to the graph that pops up. The line will be straight through the middle in the graph but if you click on it anywhere it will add a keyframeable control. You create 2 of these. One near the top and one near the bottom, then nudge the upper one toward the top of the graph a little. Nudge the lower one down.

in the camera menu go to> other functions >user menu >int.
Press o.k and it will go back to factory setting. ( page 65 of the DVX maunal)

Never press the reset button at the side unless the camera hangs.

Aram, that's nice stuff, but I'm interested in using the Brevis with the HVX. The magnet trick won't work for the HVX. You said you were going to shoot HVX w/Brevis on the weekend. It seems like you like to keep things light and simple, so I was wondering what kind of setup you were going to use. A cheap, light onboard monitor for framing? Marshall? ?

Actually i forgot about the magnet thing so Im going to use a cheap DVD player from radio shack and clamp it to a really light and cheap tripod. Its not as mobil in theory but how much time could it take just to open the tripod. I also put the rails on since its not my HVX just in case. It saves time having the rails on though because it fits in the bag together so I just have to pull it out, take the cap off and shoot. I'm just going to head to Coney Island and get some board walk shots and hopefully some people fishing. Then I may head to the hudson river and get some bridge shots or something. Getting ready to leave now.
