Hand Cranked 35mm cameras?

Does anybody own a vintage handcranked 35mm camera they would like to sell? I'm shooting a silent movie in about 2 months and I need an authentic handcranked film transport. Or, if nobody has one, does anybody know where I can find plans to build my own? If the Lumiere's did it in 1896 with the tools they had available, it stands to reason that I could build one (or find somebody to build one for me) within a few weeks. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the links. I may indeed have to rent a 435. (At least I know the footage will look great).

Do you know where I would be able to buy/rent one of those hand cranks? Arri's website is being less than cooperative with me.

Depends on where you live. Any Arri Re-seller/rental house should be able to quote you a purchase cost.

Talk to this guy here:

He's got a bunch of hand-crank 35mm cameras. But ... these cameras are VERY expensive. I don't think you'll find any in good condition for less than 5 grand.

On the other hand, have you considered using a 16mm one ? Sometimes you find a Cine Kodak Model A on Ebay going for about $600. As far as I know, that's the only reliable 16mm hand-crank camera there is.

(the only thing is ... in case you want to use an old 16mm camera, you'll need to buy double-perf film)

Thanks for the great link, Ropbo. I'll have to talk to that guy and see if he's willing to rent them out.
