Thanks for the info Barry...I was gonna get a lowel kit, but I definitely think im sold on britek.

Are the 8' Heavy Duty stands worth the extra $12.00? My kit consists of 250W kicker, 650W studio light, 300/600W light w/softbox and 500/1000w light w/softbox. Are the HD stands more geared toward their 1K and 2K studio lights? I wouldn't miss the extra 6" with the 7.5 stand, i just didn't know if it was a cheepo stand. Thanks again.

I am quite unimpressed with Britek stands. I use primarily Matthews and Avenger stands. I've got a couple of Britek super-heavy-duty stands that came with my DayPhotos, and I filed 'em away on a rack somewhere and don't think I've ever used 'em. I've borrowed a Britek softbox kit from someone before and we used his stands... I think they were standard stands. Ugh. I think Lowel makes a better stand, at least the Lowel is all metal. We were hauling the gear out on a cart and one of the Britek stands took a fall off the cart, a grand total of two feet maybe, and it cracked and broke the plastic hub at the bottom, rendering the stand useless (well, MORE useless than it already was). I think Lowel stands are weak, but better than Britek stands. None of those cheap stands is worth what they charge for them, unless space is at an absolute premium. The Lowel stands fold up very small, so you can carry them easily. But if you're not planning on doing a lot of transporting, get a decent Avenger or Matthews stand, you'll thank yourself a million times over.
