Halo movie in talks.

Re: Halo movie in talks.

..whats sad is that such a cool idea is only payed attention to buy him AFTER he sees that its making a killing in the video game industry.. its all about the money for him, and that means that he doesnt really care about the idea or game plot, and will probably crap it up if he actually does make it. ..but, id see it anyway of course. i mean cmon..its halo the movie ::)

Re: Halo movie in talks.

I wonder if this movie would be better with real life stuff (real actors, sets, etc) or all in CG like Final Fantasy Spirits Within.

I just can't see the halo world being made in real life, it would prolly just look to fake. CG would be amazing. I really hope Bungie writes the story and not some unkown screenwriter.

I have faith in Ridley Scott. All his movies are amazing in my opinion. ButI don't know...this movie would be totally awesome or just plain shitty...no inbetween.

200TH POST YAHHH!!!

Re: Halo movie in talks.

yeah but that movie sucked...actually I liked it when I first saw it...but now I hate it.

Wow, I actually was able to dig up this old thread (good job Advanced Search function).

The reason being that Steven Spielberg is interested in producing a live action Halo film.

It is not based on the Peter Jackson Halo project that was grounded a couple years ago, but on a trilogy of spec scripts that Stuart Beattie wrote last year between official assignments.

PJ's Halo was going to be directed by Neil Blokamp, who just did District 9. The studio didn't want to take a chance on an unknown quantity, for which they will probably be kicking themselves next Monday.

Yeah, I remember feeling a bit worried about what kind of Halo film we would get from Blomkamp, that is until I saw the last trailer for District 9. I bet he would do a great job, especially considering the fact that he'd have WETA at his disposal for both practical and digital effects. One thing I like about his approach is that it seems he would use practical effects as much as possible. Even with his digital stuff, he is very good at making them blend in with the live action elements. I don't want a Halo film that looks like the Star Wars prequels. Those were too digital and sterile looking for my tastes.

Although, lately Blomkamp has stated that he'd turn down a Halo film if offered the job again.

New article from today. This one has a statement from Microsoft, dated with today's date.

We hope we didn't get your hopes too high with yesterday's rumor that Mama Spielberg's favorite son was interested in making a Halo movie of his own. Microsoft told Kotaku early this morning, "The Halo feature film remains on hold as we focus on projects like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach."

Here's some friendly advice from us to you. Adopt the attitude that the Halo movie is never, ever, ever going to happen. Then, if you see it on the local marquee, it'll be a great surprise. If not, well, you knew it all along, didn't you?

So if it is Microsoft that has cold feet, then I guess this film won't happen until their toes start to warm up a bit.

Any Halo film would debut on Reach. Doesn't surprise me that Microsoft is sitting on it. They are too busy killing the franchise to care.

Quite honestly, Halo Wars was a joke of a game. The story sucked. Controls sucked. It played way too fast. ODST is around the bend and Fall Of Reach is even further out.

Basically the entire current life of Halo is tied up in the games. However, the backstory would make a hell of a film. It's incredible.

If I could pitch it, I would. Alas, I don't have anyone to pitch it to. :(
