Half-hour interview with Argo screenwriter, Chris Terrio

The guy who came out of relative obscurity with one of the best films of the year, and now has 6 projects in development (per IMDb). Enjoy.

Carla, the HOW is in the preparation, not of the story but of how you personally go about producing a screen/stageplay, book or any time consuming endeavour. You can't run a marathon without preparation, same with all creative works, you need to stay in great shape to keep mentally alert and stay positive.

Don't write on the same table you just had your dinner on, or did your accounts but don't go to extremes like Ian Fleming did with his own island
but you do have to set it up. With portable iPads etc it should be in a 'writing area' with space for the tools, notes, water, pens etc.

Inspiration comes anytime, carry a note pad. Use tools like music or your favourite artwork, and try writing at set hours. Once you've got your storyline, chapters, characters etc. try and get it to a first draft stage where you're basically filling in the dots, to get something finished.
Then if you're serious, look at it later and flesh it out. My 2 cents, hope this helps.

Cheers.
