Hacksaw Ridge

Scheduled for a November Release.

For those who have never heard of Desmond Doss nor the upcoming film...

----
WWII American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, who served during the Battle of Okinawa, refuses to kill people and becomes the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Medal of Honor.
----

I find it interesting that Mel Gibson is directing.

Though medics were required to train with and carry weapons, Desomond refused to do so but did not refuse to serve. Been a long time since I read the book on him but the only time I believe he touched a weapon is when he was on top of an escarpment taking care of wounded and a soldier below handed up a crate of hand grenades. He hesitated then passed them through to the line.

Back in the 70's as a kid, I met him a few times as my dad was in preacher college and would guest preach at area churches.

It will be interesting to see how Gibson does this film. While there is plenty of blood, guts, and gore to be had in any war film, the Doss character will be somewhat counter to many of the protagonists in Gibson's films, that he has either played, or directed.
