Does the system continue to work even after Apple updates?I have done it, its alot of work, but soo cool to see my copy of OS X running on a PC.
It depends what version you install, if you have a Intel Core 2 duo, and a Intel chipset you should be able to install right from the leopard disc (or atleast the Vanilla Kernel from another source) then most apple updates will work.Does the system continue to work even after Apple updates?
It all depends what mobo / chipset you get, check the Hardware compatibility list on the OSX86 Project Wiki.im thinking about building one with a intel core 2 quad... mail problem ive heard with certain boards is no audio... but that can be correct with a usb mic and headphone adapter thing.. its very tempting

Yea my system turned out around 700-800 USD for a Quadcore with 4GB of ram... Not too shabby. :-DYes, I built one for my brother using a DFI Bloodiron. It's about $115 and I'm pretty sure everything was working on it. I'm saving up to build one myself, but you can get a quad core system with tons of RAM for well under $1000 (if you're not overclocking). You can also do an 8-core system for under $2000.
Linux isnt exactly useful for video editing :-/If you want the Mac OS experience on a PC, do it legally and install GNU/Linux.

Installing Mac OS on anything other than Apple branded hardware is a violation of it's license. If I remember correctly, we've been down this road before in the Cafe, and the thread was locked...
