With the price of core i7 macs being so rediculous, yet Macs so favored for workflow, has anyone here used/built or worked on a Hackintosh?
im considering building an X58/core i7 930 system, and running Snow Leopard 10.6 x64 as well as Windows 7 x64. for a little over $2500, one could build an absolutely killer machine.
right now i have a 2.4Ghz Q6600 quad core machine with 8 gigs of RAM and twin HD5770 cards, and 4 TB of storage in a RAID configuration (8TB total), i built it in late 2006, and overhauled it about a month ago; but id rather build a new one.
i edit on windows machines mostly, but i also have a macbook pro with what i believe to be a dead motherboard. until i save up for a nice quad core mac, i was thinking of tossing together something along the lines of the below list...
twin 64gb SSD drives; one for boot, one for scratch disk
twin 1.5 TB storage drives.
core i7 quad core 2.8Ghz and overclock it to 3.2
liquid cooling
12GB 1066 RAM
Quadro FX 4800 1.5GB
anyone have any experience building or using a hackintosh?
