H4N Zoom Headphone's Causing Static

This may be a really dumb question but I'm having trouble with it...
I'm having trouble with my H4N Zoom I bought from here. I was wondering why I get static noise when my headphones are plugged in. When recording, I get a soft noise that definitely affects the sound quality. Any idea why the headphones (tested several) would cause this? I also tried 3 different mics and the Zoom mic.
My settings are Wav 48/24b
No compressor or limiters and it's manual audio levels. Any help would be great, thanks!

Is the static coming from the headphone speakers? Have you tested the headphones on anything else?

You may have a cold solder joint on the jack.
Frayed headphone lead.
Possibly the plug is undersized.

I had one where the solder didn't hold. Quick fix but annoying.
Mitch, was this on the H4n, or your cans? I developed a cold joint today and I need to get this dang thing apart to get to it. How did you split the two halves apart of the H4n to get to the HP jack? Mine seems to be glued or fixed somehow at the top near the onboard mics and I don't want to overstress the LCD which is glued in. All screws removed, including the mic mount screws. Still not coming apart.
