H.264...

I was reading a post on this forum about exporting after effects files in quicktime using the H.264 format.

However, I have AE 6.5 Pro and cannot find this option anywhere. I have H.261 and H.263, but no H.264.

Is MPEG-4 what they were talking about, or is there another setting for H.264 that I am missing?

you have to set this at the film render option box.

Hmm...

Where is this? When I export a video, I go to Composition/Make Movie and then go into the output module settings to set quicktime and the compression. Where do I find the film render option box?

wellm I think you should find it just there. but I never export QT, I always render a DV, because, I can cut it easier in other programs, and then I render these things in the "cutting" software.

I've done this. It looks like crap; the image has really low contrast and it looks like there's a white sheet over the image. Any reason why?

Do you have QT 7 installed for 264?

Ahh, didn't realize that's where H.264 came from. Installed it and I now have my option for 264.

Thanks, all for the help.

ahh, but does it look any good? Mine certainly didnt

Tip: Always export with the "Lossless" option (be sure to have your audio checked on if you are using it) even when editing with DV footate. The best way to have your video files in the H.264 compression is to use Quicktime Pro. Exporting Quicktime files from AE never produced great results if you are on a PC. But of cousre Quicktime Pro "cost" 29.99, as far as "free" H.264 solutions....haven't found a way....Apple bastards. ^_^
