Yesterday, I exported a 23.98 sequence (standard def, shot on DVX) from FCP using the 'Export using Compressor' option.
In Compressor, I used the 'HD DVD - H.264 - 10.3 Mbps' preset, and noticed looking at the inspector that the framerate defaulted to 59.xx FPS. I tried changing it to 'automatic' thinking that that would preserve the framerate of my sequence, but it kept jumping back to 59.xx.
I started the batch anyways. It took very long to encode (about 40 mins for 1.5 mins of video) but the end result looked amazing, specifically the motion- very smooth.
Anyways, I'm wondering why the framerate defaulted to something other than 23.98, and if the reason why it took so very long to encode had anything to do with frames being duplicatd or something like that.
Also, I had to make the DVD Studio Pro project HD (instead of SD) in order to import the quicktime. Is there any way to use the H.264 codec to create a SD DVD?
