H.264 encoding/playback freezing

OK,

I'm trying to encode some long format (2.25 Hrs) lectures to .mp4 files via Premiere CS3 and AME. I complete the encode and the video plays for the first hour. After that, the screen freezes while the audio continues along.

I've tried different compression settings, importing my edits into a new timeline, into a new project. The same thing happens every time at roughly the 45min-1hr mark.

what gives?!?!?!?!

I'm really getting frustrated given that it takes me 1.5 hrs to complete an encoding and I won't know if i'm successful until the end!

Have any of you run into this before, if so how did you work around it?

Is there a glitch or error in your source file at that same point?

Does it preview fine in Premiere or a media player at that point?

What format is your source file? Use mediainfo if you don't know.

What software media player are you using for playback? What happens if you use something else? e.g. VLC player

the video plays fine in premiere, can jump to any point in the timeline and everything works perfectly

the source material are .mxf files

As for VLC, I need it to work in quicktime as that is the client's installed media player. so it doesn't matter if the file plays in any other player, it must play in QT

Was one of the "different compression" that you already tried h.264/aac in MOV container ?

QT Player has difficulty with AVC High, >2 consecutive b-frames. Some of these settings may have been set if you used a generic h264 in .mp4 profile. If you use the "quicktime" default profile settings this should not be an issue

Another thing you can try is clearing out the media cache in the options; that has caused weird issues in the past for me with some Premiere versions
