Guys quick question about translation... English quote to X language

Hya everyone I have a quote that was said by a famous english man, but I am translating the film to french, is it good idea to translate the english quote? cheers

I suggest handing the translation to someone who's really fluent in both languages - literal by-the-book translations sometimes totally lose the meaning of the original phrase.

If its a famous quote, theres a reasonable chance it has been translated to French already and there maybe an accepted translation in existence. Get someone fluent in french to do a search to see if there is, if not, just get them to translate it for you.

Example:

War was beginning.
Captain: What happen ?
Mechanic: Somebody set up us the bomb.
Operator: We get signal.
Captain: What !
Operator: Main screen turn on.

CATS: How are you gentlemen !!
