guy grahics boom poles

I'd take a pass. I'm pretty sure that's an actual fishing pole and the inability to lock at anything less than the full 14' of extension is completely ridiculous.

If you have a need for that length consistently it's not bad. I found the pole itself to be light and sturdy. I bought the 14' pole which included a shock mount. This was my first pole purchase.

The connecting tip seems to have been attached merely by friction as after some use it just popped off from the weight of the microphone and shock mount. I've since all but retired the pole in favor of one with locking segments but use the shock mount constantly.

My conclusion is these types of poles are excellent for light duty with consistant usage at long distances.

Well, I ened up buying a home depot pole...... it wa sa budget thing....

Anyway, now I have to figure out how to connect the mount to it....

I would stay away from a pole that you can't lock unless it's fully extended. What if you only need 10 ft? The shock mount is also dubious. I've dealt with it personally, and I'm not a fan of a clip on the mic. That can induce noise, and over time tends to wear out. I'm a big fan of the PSC universon shock mounts. As far as cheap poles, I'd go with a KTek Avalon.

Go whole-hog, like I did. Use a paint roller on the end of the paint pole and attach a blimp to the roller. :)

Home-made furry blimp - Here

and attached to the end of the pole -
