We've all seen them. assasin blazes into the room with his 9mm-- fireworks coming out the barrel.

how is the fireworks created? in post? or are there spark sticks that i don't know about inside the gun

Here is a link to possibly what you are looking for. Or maybe not, but it sure sounds like it.

Blank round firearms shoot essentially identical to live round firearms, just without the projectile. It creates a flame blast - what you usually see in a film - whether it is created by a powder round at shooting, or created in post with digital effects.

Then there is the "sparking" and "fireworks" look. This is highly unrealistic, and honestly, the only place I've seen it in film - that I can think of - is in really bad 80s B-movies.

The only way I know of to create this - aside from in post - is with "Non Guns". They are a patented prop that is not a real firearm and requires no licensing to handle/use.

Non Guns are revolutionizing the film and TV industry. Non Guns:
* do not require an FFL license for handling,
* will not jam (they are non-mechanical),
* use standardized flash loads - one size fits all,
* can offer a near-silent flash if desired, and
* are the safest realistic replica gun available.

I'm not quite sure they are "revolutionizing" the industry, but, whatever.

The patent is owned by ISS and they are the only outlet for the Non Guns.

I think blanks look 100x better and I think for the micro-low indie f-maker, airsoft and post effects are the way to go.
