Kimbles real name is Kim Schmitz and he's a german dude who made a ton of money from that dotcom-hype.
He made the mistake not to pay the taxes the german IRS told him to pay and had to flee to Hong Kong for a while.
The german authorities arrested him there and brought him to court. He was sentenced on parole but it seems that he might have stashed away some of the money (or he has rich friends...)

From the stories ive read he hacked some CIA type **** and got caught back when he was a kid. I got the link originally from 2600 magazine.
