Guilty Pleasures

Sis just asked what I wanted for my birthday...

I said: The first 4 Raspberries albums.

And then I went into Amazon and ordered two Mott The Hoople albums. (Mott & Brain Capers)

Anyone else draw the shades and play some things their friends wouldn't think are too cool?

BCR anyone?

Alright - I'll admit it.
(i feel like I'm at an AA meeting here)

My name is Luis, and I like the Carpenters.

There, I said it.

I love that scene from Tommy Boy where Chris Farley and David Spade have their awkward moment attempting to find something they both want to hear on the radio then start singing away together on Superstar as tears stream down their faces. Ha!

I still like to crank up my MP3s of "I Ran (so Far Away)" and "Space Age Love Song" by A Flock of Seagulls on iTunes. :)

The Carter Family. But I don't draw the shades....I CRANK IT UP!

i'm with ya, Jim. I've got several tracks of them on this AMAZING boxed set called The Anthology Of American Folk Music and some Mama Mabelle on Will The Circle Be Unbroken Vol.One. When I was a child my uncle promised to make me a custom leather guitar strap when I could play Wildwood Flower to his satisfaction (fast paced Bluegrass style) and to this day it's one of my favorite songs to pick. I'll crank em too.

I only keep a very small handful of selected friends and they would think everything I listen to kicks ass, even Tiptoe Through The Tulips.

I was in this music store one time, looking at what they had. I asked the guy for something, but I don't remember what. He saidd he didn't think so, but what they really prided themselves on was their collection of sheet music. If it's in print, they have it. So I said, okay...ya got any Carter Family?

Him: "Who?"
Me: "The CARTER FAmily"
Him: "Like AARON Carter?"
Me: "Noooo, like the First Family of Country Music"
Him: "First Family? Like Jimmy Carter? Was he a musician?"
Me: "Peanut farmer. Ever hear of Johnny Cash?"
Him: "Sure"
Me: "He had a wife, named June Carter"
Him: "Yep"
Me: "Her Mama, Aunt and Uncle had a little band once...Did a tune called 'will the circle be unbroken'"
Him: "Sure, I heard that one."
ME: "Well do you have that?"
Him "I don't know...what was the name of their band.?"

OK I'll lift my proverbial skirt of embarassment:

Random embarassing selections from my itunes library:
Queen
Judy Garland
Huey Lewis & The News
Def Leppard
Christopher Cross
Billy Joel
Peter Cetera

Ok that's enough for now :)

I must be out of the loop. When did Billy Joel become something to be embarrased about? :undecided

PINK FLOYD
The Kinks
Manfred Mann's Eerth Band
Blue Oyster Cult
ELP
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Billy Squire - The Stroke
The Moody Blues
Steely Dan

Chuck - I don't think you get the question unless, you're slightly embarassed to listen to those bands you listed.
