Guilty Pleasure films?

Okay, time to come clean yah jerks...what's the guilty pleasure in your film world?

I'm talking about the movie you shouldn't like, but have come to love...the one you leave on when you find it on cable, yet you change the channel as soon as someone else comes home...the one you hide behind your rack of Criterion Collection DVD's. And no, porn does not count.

For me, I have two:

Hackers and Empire Records.

Fess up.

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

Great topic, I actualy totally agree on Hackers seen it a dozen times.

encino man
lover boy
real genius

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

Not sure how 'ashamed' I am with it, but it's gotta be "Falling Down" or Die Hard. I've seen both too many times and it's getting beyond a joke ::)

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

Empire Records is nothing to feel guilty about... Great movie.

Fifth Element and Armageddon are two of my favorite movies but I always get slammed for loving them.
(For the record... Guilt free) :)

and... Van Wilder ;D

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

hmmm. Can't think of anything I'm embarrassed about. Maybe there's a few I like that would embarrass somebody else

Highlander
Stone Cold (Lance Henriksen is so evil!)
Steel Magnolias
Boondock Saints

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

Funny thing is, in each one of these posts so far there is a film that I count among my favorites (with associated guilt and without). Fifth Element, Highlander, Real Genius, Buckaroo Bonzai and Die Hard.

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

Guilt never did much for me. At 38 years old I'm okay with liking what I like because I like it.

Not that ths isn't a cool thread. I'm sure some folks are squirming at their keyboard: "should I...tell...them...?"

I totally forgot that movie. Lance rocked in that!

Here, here! Good for you Jim! :D

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

Thanks, I just wish it hadn't taken me so long. It's an incredible waste of time and energy not being who you are. It almost cost me my marriage

Great, way to get maudlin Jimbo.

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

It's really cheesy...really really cheesy, and it's definitely not on anyone's top 10 list. Wholly Moses.

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

Zapped, starring Scott Baio and Willie Ames.
And not for all the stupid '80's typical-american-high school-t&a scenes, either.
I thought some of the gags were really funny (at least, as a 13-year-old). Particularly the take on The Excorcist.

I dug the whole super-powers thing and the nice little feel-good ending.

It's a retarded movie, I know.

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

Oh, and how could I forget one of my all-time fav guilty pleasure films, 1941.

Re: Guilty Pleasure films?

I would have to say "coming Home" a very under rated film in my books. It was also one of bruce Dern's best performances IMHO. It doesn't embarress me, there are a lot of so called chick flicks that I watch and love and stand up for in debate. I guess I should turn on my little thingy over there to the left so you all can tell my gender :)
