Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question.

I am looking for guidance into creating a Props knife that would be a replica of a real knife.

I have looked for a good props master in the Philly area and couldn't find anyone. So i thought i'll do this on my own.

Any thoughts? Guidance?

Thank you in advance.

I did a feature last year, where a big kitchen knife was a central prop. We simply got a real knife, and then had a metal-worker polish the blade blunt. You could drag it across your arm without any problems (which is actually quite a weird experience), and it looked perfect. It's still pointy and dangerous of course, so we used cardboard knives for fighting and stuff, but not sharp.

This is one of those cases though, where you have to be careful.

Thank you both.

I can order props knives online and but i can't use anything metallic for the fight even if i were to blunt the edges of the blade.

What i am really looking for is to make a replica of an actual knife. How do i make this replica?

We made a few attempts with silicone, but that definately did not work :)

As said we ended up using a knife made from cardboard for stunts. We had some shiny tape that looked pretty good on the blade, but if you need it for closeups, you have to look at other stuff. It was easy though.
