Guess what I just got for $200!

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

Cool. I've got the same exact monitor but mine has "JVC" across the front.

$25 from a garage sale!!!! It's awesome!

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

woohaaa. I got a sony 14" monitor similar to that for dirt cheap on ebay as well.

Also, I just had a bit of luck with a schoeps mic a few weeks back... $2500 worth of shoeps mics/accessories for a little over a grand straight from the set of CSI (with complimentary maintanence from the factory) :)

Must be the Fall season or something  :P

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

Hey Tony,

The eBay site says that "andreasiegelbid" is the winning bidder. Does that mean your real name is Andrea Siegel"? ;D

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

why, did you not believe it was me because it doesn't say "tonyhallbid"? Sheesh...

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

Oh he was just givin ya a hard time. I think we're all a little jealous of that monitor. :P

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

Well, I'd better not celebrate until it arrives and I see for myself that it's in good condition... it would still be a good deal even if it was in bad condition ;D

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

this must be the week for deals, i got a mini frezzi 100 watt dimmable on camera light ($300 b&h) for $150 on ebay + the bogen 3051 tripod legs for $140 at a local camera shop all in one week!

it doesn't take much to make me happy.

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

Guess what else I got... I'm crossing my fingers that it's not a scam, but I've already got the tracking number and they have some good feedback... Anyway, I won a brand new in box XL1s for $2550... there must have been some people sleeping because they go for $3000 used at B&H.

Why an XL1s you ask? I can't afford a XL2, I don't need 24P, I want the 16:9 sqeeze, and I NEED a shoulder mount AND changable lenses. I was going to buy a DVC60 new when it came out, but I think we can all agree that the XL1s is better than the DVC60. Super high resolution and a "film look" isn't what I'm all about anyway... if it's good enough for 28 Days Later, it's good enough for my low budget stuff.

If I throw my back out again trying to master my Magiqcam, I could sell it and my XL1s and get an XL2... if it came down to it.

Just thinking out loud at this point... time to shut up and go to bed.

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

You can't afford the XL2, but you can afford SLR lenses?

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

Huh? Do you mean XL lenses? I can get my XL1s and two lenses for the price of just an XL2, what's so strange about that? I want the 3x Canon lens which you can get on Ebay for about $800. If you take that, my Magiqcam, and the XL1s that I just won and it comes to the same price of just an XL2... quite a big deal after all huh?

If you mean actual SLR lenses, then I have a few of those two because I do still photography.

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

XL1s uses SLR lenses. I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would have gone for the XL2... but that's just me.

Actually wait, if it were me, I would have gone with the DVX ;)

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

I didn't claim that EVERYONE would get more use out of a XL1s, Magiqcam, and additional wide zoom OVER an XL2... I'm sure there's people who don't need wide shots or would rather use a cheap adapter for wide shots and people who don't want steadycam shots... that's fine. For what I need, I spent my money well.

The XL1s only uses SLR lenses if you buy an adapter, the native mount is an XL mount which there's only about 5 lenses available for. I have some EOS lenses, but I doubt I'd want to use them on the XL1s because they instantly become super telephotos with no IS.

I've had a DVX, the 100 (not the 100A) and it didn't even have a 16:9 squeeze mode and it didn't have a shoulder mount and it didn't have a zoom ring with any drag, so you couldn't use it while filming. I liked that it had a built in wide angle lens. It's a good camera, but I've made my decision.

Re: Guess what I just got for $200!

I stand corrected, I thought the XL1s used SLRs natively. I'm glad that you were able to get the set up that better suits your needs.
