Group Buy for Full Rig for DSLRs from Cinecity

Like many of you, I shoot video with a DSLR and am in the market for a full rig. Unfortunately, cash is in short supply, so the higher-end gear is out of reach. I've read up on a lot on opinions about the quality of Cinecity's products, and many have been satisfied with the price/performance ratio, while others have the opposite opinion. I threw out a quick email to the folks at Cinecity tonight and they gave me a discount price for 2 full rig units of 5% off--I am specifically talking about:

DSLR KIT-9 V1 Follow Focus + Matte box Mattebox Sunshade Kit

http://www.thecinecity.com/tcc/product. ... 279&page=1

Includes:
•Follow focus with Gear set
•15mm Rail System
•Mattebox with french flag & side flags
•15" whip

There is a review of the kit on vimeo:
http://vimeo.com/8658243

The reviewer, Kevin Antholt, seemed to think it was a serviceable enough setup.

They initially gave me a discount for 2 kits from $689.00 to $654.50 per unit--a $34.00 savings off each rig. With a nice 5% discount off of only 2 units, I think we can do very well with a group of 6-12. However shipping is $45.00 to the states.

After some emails back & forth, I have just been told of a new, bulk order discounted price for the above unit from Cinecity.

UPDATE:

Price including shipping is $595.00. This is only if we can get a group of 12 units to purchase.

This would mean a discount of approximately $130.00 if you were buying individually.

So far myself and a friend are in.

2 down, 10 to go.

Please post your interest, or PM me.

Please give us your thoughts on the build quality of this rig if you have past experience.

The more interest this gets, the more buying power we have.

Thanks

Looks like a lot of equipment for the money... but like you said it is still a lot of money.

Good video review, What negatives have been mentioned?

Oh the negatives are all over the boards. Build quality, finish issues, loose components, cheap plastic. India is the largest filmmaking community in the world I believe. They arent label whores, and they use what they can afford. I know this kit might be useless in a couple of years, but right now its probably good enough.

It all does look 'like' the good stuff. I have been watching their products for a while... I have one of their 1st matte boxes, which is a pos... this one looks much more promising.

Please follow the thread at cinema5d under full rigs! I'm getting more interest for the group buy on that site.

Thanks

I bought both FF + Matte Box from them for $620, received them is 3 days!!! I assembled them to my Redrock, HMC150, Manfrotto Tripod and tried them out!!!

FF play is 1.5 - 2mm which is good!

Matte Box is lighter than I thought which is good because 35mm is already.

THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! :love4:

Maybe I got luck withe them.
