Grip: Safety cable question

Does anybody make these safety cables but encased in a protective layer of clear plastic? I think I remember seeing it somewhere. The unprotected cables keep scratching up my gear. Thanks!

Maybe you could try a narrow(ish) bike-lock cable such as this one from Kryptonite. It's about 3/16-inch x 30-inches if I remember my ballpark math. $10.

Other sizes, lengths, brands, and dealers available of course. A key thing: if the lights get hot, will the plastic covering melt? I'd think with modern LED/COB lights, you'll probably be OK (as opposed to old tungsten etc lights). But that's just a guess.

I don't know if they are available a la carte, but the safety cable on the barn doors for my 600d feels like it is coated in plastic.

Great! And Kyptonite is a legit bike-lock company, so those cables will be well made.

Please let us know how they work out for you!

I am so happy the cables are polymer coated. The old one was scratching up my gear. Best hack in a while. Thanks for your advice, everybody!
