Hello everyone,

as I guess many of you too, I have a Manhattan LCD which I intend to use on set as a preview monitor between takes to see if focus was good etc. (got a GH1, so no live view for me...)

I´m worried that I´ll drop the Manhattan one day and so am wondering if anyone of you has done some DIY case or grip for this display that makes its handling less dangerous.

I just need some hint to maybe a special case that I could customize or anything.

Much appreciated!

i dont how big the monititor is but do u guys remeber the jordans that came in the metal briefcase.
you get new shoes and a equipment case
but i dont think they sellem like tht anymore
and your monitor is probly to big
so nvrmnd ha

I've got most of my kit in Pelican cases, and when I moved to padded dividers, I had all this foam left over. Oddly enough (see Steev'sHVX post above), I had a metal briefcase in a closet that I got as trade show schwag (yeah, this was back in the day)...kinda useless, not padded. So I cut some of the Pelican eggrate foam padding to fit in the top and bottom. To better protect my HD089b, I got a 12x12 gear wrap (sold by Calumet, Domke, and others): not super padded, but soft and when folded, you just open one end and the monitor slips out. Has spare room for 2 batteries, cabling.

I always recommend to gather everything you need to take with you, organize it in piles based on how you think (so that packing up/out can be more predictable and nothing's left behind), THEN find a case. Buying a case for just one piece of kit is always hard because accessories easily take up 50% more volume than the main piece of equipment.

Good thinking with the accessories in a pile.

I discovered a website www.gantergriff.de that has like EVERY imaginable grips in stock. So I´m thinking of adding two grips to the HD089b left and right and something to the back so one could slide his arm in and grab the grip on the side of the monitor. Also I need something to apply the Tekkeon to...
That would be for holding it.
For packing it up I have to see how big it gets first, obviously, and then go for a peli type case.

I´m still not through with the idea of building something around the monitor first, where it´s fixed and padded inside. ...
