Grip hardware? Umbrella with an aputure 120 or 300v2

[lightstand]

Any ideas on mounting an umbrella to the aputure 120 or 300v2? I could mount hardware between the stand and light however this would put the umbrella rather low especially when using small umbrellas. (I like to use translucent small umbrellas)

Wondering if anyone has a recommendations for grip hardware to mount the umbrella within the yoke or other thoughts?

I appreciate any advice or suggestions

Can you just mount the umbrella to handles on the lights? Looks like 300d ii will be easier because it sticks above the light but both should be easier than the yoke.

a Cardellini and Grip Head mounted just beneath the light will suffice.

There are Bowens-mount reflectors that have built-in umbrella holders.

PS: Never used umbrellas with my 300d2s so have no idea how well these might work, but did see a similar thread on Facebook’s Apurture User Group.

Why use an umbrella which basically spreads light uncontrollably all over your location versus using Aputure's excellent and cheap parabolic softboxes?
Umbrellas are generally used more by still shooters. They are convenient for video if you just want to uncontrollably wash an entire room in the same
soft light, but are nearly impossible to control and sculpt without a ton of grippage.

If you don't go the umbrella option.... which I agree will spill light everywhere - here's a decent deal going on today only - that should work with Bowens mount on Aputure.... gives you a couple of "options" with inner & outer diffusion:
