Grid Cloth and Opal Frost

Yep. Both are forms of diffusion. Opal is very light and is very popular among people. I use it all the time to take the edge of a light. Doubling up works really well when you want a little more. Full Grid cloth is much heavier (I think equivalent to 216?) but also comes in Light and 1/4 strength. I haven't used grid cloth before but I just bought a roll of full and light that i'll be putting on 3x3 frames to try. Grid cloth seems to have gained popularity in the last few year. You can also sew it together because it's cloth.

yeah grid cloth is good! it difusses the light nicely! and best u can fold it and stuff in your pocket!

It also handles wind noise better.

They both offer different qualities of light.

However, if shooting CUs of highly-reflective surfaces, the grid pattern may show up in the highlights.

In general, I usually throw some light opal frost in front of fresnels that I feel are too punchy.
