Grey to red sky

Hey, I need a solution fast. I would like to change the sky colour in my movie from grey(natural colour) to red or an apocalyptic looking colour.

http://img.techpowerup.org/090521/Capture078.jpg - screen shot of one seen.
There are a few other scenes before this one that have the sky coming through other windows and seen through curtains(might cause problem)

I have Adobe AfterFX, and Vegas at my disposal. Any other programs needed please mention them.

This is for a high school project and a fast reply would be GREATLY appreciated

After Effects is what you want. It's not keyable as it is, you'll have to roto it out. Draw a mask. Enable keyframes on the shape. Go to the next frame. Alter it to fit. Repeat. Actually, that's a little off. I usually jump ahead a bunch for the keyframes then do the in betweens. It may well be the most tedious thing you'll ever find yourself doing in After Effects. Then you can put things on different layers and only affect the one you want.

For the ones with sunlight... I'd say you might want to tint the whole scene. The proper way would be for the sun/sky light to be different than the interior light, but that would probably be more work than you're looking for. And probably would require a reshoot.

What effect should I use in AFX?

What effect should I use in AFX?
Colorama?
But in my opinion just Mask it as an adjustment layer, and use Hue/Saturation; change the color cycle to around 350 which is red if I remember correctly, and adjust the saturation and lightness accordingly.

duplicate the footage. Make the top one black&white, turn up the contrast.
To make it in after effects do it like this.:
Layer B&W
Layer with new sky (luma matte)
Original Layer.

i hope it makes any sense.
good luck with it.

Try Chroma Keying out the back colors. Or try Secondary Color Correction. Vegas has both plugins.

You could even replace the sky because your trees are dark. So as long as your background is lighter than your trees, just use a blend mode of 'Darken' and your tree's will darken your new background. Unless your cam is moving, then you have to motion track it. Otherwise, Secondary CC as mentioned above should be fine. Depends what your after.

//Maybe also a gradient map, ect. And the above suggestions.
