Hello to everyone! Just bought a Panasonic AC-HMC40. I already have a Panasonic HDC-SD90 and a Panasonic HDC-HS900. I started out a little over 10 years ago with a desire to get into video but at the time it was just too expensive to buy the gear. I opted instead to delve into still photography to help me learn basics like lighting, staging, etc. About a year ago I bought the SD90 so I could start playing with video. Shortly after that I got the HS900. I've been shooting a ton since then but I've always been daunted by editing. It's incredibly overwhelming and so much more involved than still photo editing! Well, at least I think it is. But, that's why I'm here. I want to learn everything I can and I realize that in order to do that I just have to keep shooting, keep editing, and keep reading to do that. I've already learned a lot just lurking in the forums and I'm looking forward to learning a lot more.
 
Welcome aboard! The editing will come quickly with a little practice. Once you learn the basic features (which are all about the same in any NLE) the creative experimenting can begin!

Tom - I hear you. I've been doing a project with a friend where we pick a theme and create and post a video once a week. It's been forcing me to think about what I'm shooting rather than just blindly shooting but more importantly it's making me edit!

Allan - I have to completely agree with you! I've been watching a lot of videos at the GoPro site and on Vimeo and I'm seeing mediocre and even bad video being transformed by the right music and good sound.
