Hi.. my name is Peter, ive been doing my homework on this cam for about 6 months now.. and i think its time to break the bank to get one :) I cant let my G5 go to waste heh..
Anyways.. thought id intro myself.. and get to know you guys and gals a little bit better..

'A' of course.. i have to break the bank to finally get it, Anyways.. hope to share alot of my coming works with everyone.. also.. ive noticed alot of ass kissing here..  there needs to be some contructive critisim towards Vids..  but thats just me.. and i could be wrong..  sorry if i come off as an ass..  but arent all canadians?  j/k :)

The G5 is the new apple. He just likes saying he has one that's all. I wish could say that.

I figured. A friend of mine has 2 of them and he pointed them out several times last week at his office. He was like:

"You want me to ask the G5's if they'll take a picture with you?"

pete welcome aboard! have fun with the G5.

- its not really butt kissing. once you start to get into the world of profeesional cinematography, youll soon learn how very hard it is to make even a 15 sec commercial. so if someones attempt really isnt as great as it could be, ill think youll find that alot of people do offer alot of very helpful constructive critisism, but alot of people might not have anything good to say about the video,grabs or whatever was posted, so somtimes we'll just offer our support instead, and encourage them to keep working at it. it can be really hurtful to say somthing like "your video looks like dung and i hated it.. why dont you spend about 8 years getting smarter, and developing some talent and then come back and post somthing that we might be interested in watching. until then ..thanks for wasting my time you radioactive freak!" after someone spent 50 hours making a 2 minute mediocre commercial production. its better just to encourage someone, and give some technical tidbits to help, because they will in fact eventually get better. but they wont feel at home here, and want to contribute again if we just knock them.

oh.. and "iamloser" .. i put in over 600 hours vouleenter hours at the local broadcasting company... i know a thing or too about cinematography.. not perfected.. but pretty much up there.. and i didnt even knock on anyone yet.. and i said "constructive critism" not down right making fun of lol

trying to define the butt-kissing--are you referring to the lack of criticism of each other's work, or criticism of the camera? I guess I could partially agree with you on both counts: there are very few examples of people saying "that sucks" about someone's video, but that's mainly because the people on this site are a fifty-fifty split of professionals and beginners. We expect either crap of greatness. also, I think people are starting to realize that not everyone makes the same style of films, and throwing stones can get you hurt when you end up looking like a fool because you told someone their avant garde masterpiece "needs a subplot and more dialogue".

Yeah, people definitely do kiss the magnesium butt of the DVX from time to time. And it kind of pisses me off that some people like to gloss over (or simply ignore) the camera's limitations. But it really is a fantastic, ground-breaking machine & it deserves to be worshipped on occasion.
