Greetings from a noob.

Just thought I would join up and say hello.

I work at a local community college and I managed to convince my boss to purchase a new DVX100A for our department. It's a bit of overkill for what we are doing, but I really wanted a decent camera with XLR inputs.

So after using the forums to do a little research, we are ordering the camera, extra battery, UV filter (mostly for lens protection), and a Bogen 503 head. I already have a set of the 3011N Bogen sticks so I'll just re-use those with the new head.

Can't wait for the unit to arrive. :laugh: It will spend more time off campus than on I believe.

Anyways, don't mind me if I ask silly questions. I'm a noob just getting into this thing.

We're getting it from Profeel. I read somewhere else that they were an authorized reseller, although I want to check with Panasonic about it.

Hrm... I'll have to call panasonic. Since we are using an institutional purchase order, I'm not sure if we can do rebates anways.

don't know how a purchase order will disquailfy you from a rebate, but wouldn't it also be nice to know that you are also going to receive a US unit, a waranty, magic bullet, a fat battery, and 10 pieces AMQ tapestock?

there are a lot of great resources on this board regarding camera purchase.
 
Hrm... I'll really have to do some digging. I've also contacted Jan at Panasonic.

Profeel has the camera for around $3100, but if they are not authorized, I may want to look elsewhere. Also need to pick up a Bogen 503 head.
 
Hi Jugo, I got your PM, sorry, for some odd reason I haven't been able to log onto the DVxuser site for 2 days, so I didn't get it until today. We definitely accept school PO's, and most major colleges in CA have us on their vendor list. Also, LAUSD and many Highschools. We are seasoned with PO's and how to get fast approval and quick ship times. Also school PO's are like a check, so you get the cash discount, and no tax if out of state.
