Greenberg

I hope this gets the chance to expand to a somewhat wider release. I'm a big Noah Baumbach fan. If not, I'll probably make a trip to LA just to see it.

Can't wait to see this based on your review Stephen.....

And

Ben Stiller did a quick synopsis of this film on Stern last week, and based on that, I'm sold.

Right on! Worth the wait for this one.:thumbsup:

Great film. Not entirely "likeable" characters, but as Steven mentioned in his review, it's fun to spend two hours with them.

When I heard about the plot synopsis, I flipped out, cuz my Betrayalfest entry was about two guys who were in a band in their youth meeting up by chance in their 40's. Greenberg is a guy who was in a band that could have "made it", but he ultimately sabotaged their career. I loved the restaurant/bar scenes with the ex-bandmates.

I wish there was more content on the band itself. Would have been great to see a scene or two where they picked up the instruments once again.

Netflix it.

so interesting the way he uses characters that are so unlikeable. Jeff Daniels in Squid and the Whale, Nicole Kidman in Margot At The Wedding, and Stiller in this. Sometimes it's difficult as an audience member to figure out if you don't like the movie or you just don't like the character in it. I had a hard time with my first viewing of Margot, but the second time i loved it. Loved Greenberg the first time, but mostly because Greta is Amazing. Not sure how it would've done without her. And i loved loved loved the ending.

Good thoughts, agreed. I think films like these are watchable in the sense of the old "car wreck" cliche. It's hard not to look. You're right, that Jeff Daniels character was a douchebag!

A show like Seinfeld, if you really look at it…..these are four people doing some really horrible and selfish things, but it made for an entertaining sitcom. I'm sure the same could be said for Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I'm not up on that one as much. :Drogar-Happy(DBG):
