Green Screens

I am very new but I want to learn as much as i can about green screens.
What is the cheapest material?
How do I light it?
How do I insert the effects after.
This counts as special effects right?
Thanks from a newbie fly!

Ok, since your new, I'm not going to beat down on you and say tell you that to search first (because all the info already exists), but you should search first :)

(1) you can use, cardboard, fabric, painted walls anything that will give you a somewhat consistent colour, in fact its not so much the material then the whole process from setting up even lighting to capturing formats and keying methods.
try out this:

(2) Light it such that the actor is not right up against it so that it casts shadows, you want to get even lighting (as much as possible)

(3) You use any good compositors (Conbustion, After Effects, etc..) or video keygen, in fact chromakeying is so common it can even be done in most NLE (Non linear Editors) aka video editors

(4) Yes it does count as speacil effects.

No problems, just do a search on this forum or on google, there is tons of information, grab a camera, grab a solid (green/blue) background, shot it, capture it into your PC/mac then chromakey it in whatever software you prefer.
