Green Screen

Alright - Green screen isn't my thing, but I just got a call from our Production Director in San Antonio and he needs to buy a screen for the station.

Any suggestions?
I'm not sure what to look for in a green screen (other than the color green).

So - any advice, links, tips, etc from all you green screen junkies would be helpful.
Thanks.

For what it's worth I've got a fabric greenscreen (because it was the only economical option for the size I wanted) and it's done an admirable job for me.

I have bought a few green screens and stands in the last year. The lesson I learnt is make sure you go a bit bigger than you think you need.

The portable fold up screens are very small usally 5ft x 7ft and because of the curved corners are too small for any wide shots. I ended up having to buy a bigger set up very quickly because the smaller size was no good when you had taller talent.

Buy muslin option and I would suggest 3m x 4.5m as smallest size as it covers a good area of the floor too. - they are about $150.00 USD.

Would say opting for the more epxensive sturdy frames over the cheaper lighter ones is also a good idea - smaller ones have a habit of toppling over.

Heavy duty 3m x 3m I think is a good long term option for most standard shots - about $190.00 USD

if you need a reference point for the stands/ dimensions - see www.backdropsource.co.uk they are pretty reliable - everything is on there.

Hope this helps

I noticed that chroma-key.com people sell foam-backed which looks just like eefx - comparable?
I have question regarding foam-backed screens. Is the material fairly stiff or can i fold it if I need to fit the screen into a tigher space? does it store in a huge roll or can it be folded?
I'm in a situation where my greenscreen needs to be portable enough to shoot inside apartments but still wide enough (at least 10' at maximum)
suggestions?
