Green Screen and shaky video

Hi everyone. I was wondering if any of you know how to match green screen footage with slightly shaky video (like handheld trying to be still). I know how to use green screen footage on still, tripod mounted shots and I'm pretty sure I know the process of adding it to shaky video, but I'm unsure of the specifics of how to do it and what this process/technique is called. Basically, I think the concept is this. In your shaky background plate, you choose a reference point (like putting a green dot sticker in your shot during shooting) and use the motion of that dot to dictate the motion of your green screen footage. I believe that's more or less the way you do it. If I'm right about that, what I want to know is... what is this process/technique called (so I can research it better) and any research info you have about what programs can do it, tutorials, etc. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

AE has it's own motion trackers, which by version 7 (or even 6.5) are probably better than Patchmaker, plus, they are part of the program.

Your green screen is still. Cool. Find a couple of high contrast sections as far apart as you can on you back plate, and to a motion track with position and rotation. Track your background footage. Apply the track data to a null object, parent the your green screen layer to the null. Why use a null? If you want to have multiple things all follow the stabilization, use a null as the destination, then any other layers can be parented to that. enable motion blur, but depending on how you shot is 29.97 or 23.97 fps, you may need to adjust the shutter settings under the Advanced tab in your composition settings for the correct amount of blur, 1/48 and 1/60 respectively.

You could also put the background elements in a seperate comp, and use that as the track target

use the same method as used in sky replacement tutorial by Andrew K, basically try and find distinct fixed points and track it, so long as the movement does not have any parallex it should work, then just apply the motion track to the background layer. Voila no need to stabalize
