I'd vote for Superman except I think it would be more of a sentimental vote because I was in elementary school when I first saw it. I'd probably be more inclined to vote for Batman Begins now that I'm in my 30s. I think Batman is a more interesting character and the new Batman is much more interesting and far less cartoonish than any of the other Batman flicks.

wow!!! It's a tight race in the polls between Batman Begins and Superman. Superman is a classic, but who ever thought Batman Begins would be such a great movie, especially in 2005 where good movies aren't made anymore...

My vote was for Batman Begins.. Classic in the making.

Superman pure and simple. Not only among the most groundbreaking fx for its time (right below Star Wars, Jurassic Park and King Kong respectively)...but the story is absolutely timeless. I recently introduced my son to it, and he's hooked (and keep in mind he has never lived in a world without CGI).

...One other thing: If you haven't listened to John William's Superman score in a while, do yourself a favor and give it a listen. Powerful stuff.

Yeah. Except every time I listen to it I'm convinced I can fly and hurt myself jumping from high places. :(

...then instead of John Williams I start hearing in my head:

"Believe it or not,
I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free eee eee.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me."

SPIDERMAN 1 and 2

Im the ultimate spiderman fan.

1 means alot because it pen on the grand opening theater thats now the closest one to me and there millions of people there and i got to feel that star wars ala 1970 moment. I meant alot to me on a side note saw star wars 2 when it came out like 2 weeks later on opening day and only me and my bros were there lol.

Batman begins is neck and neck with those those but im spiderman and marvel comic bias. waiting for BB dvd

Superman 1979

I just saw this again the other night on HBO for perhaps the first time in fifteen years. Wow. That film has held up really well. Great looking effects in a nicely-paced story. So many of these new films use rapid-fire edits to hide hideously undercooked and thinly painted-on CGI SFX.

I'd say the same thing about BladeRunner versus I Robot.

Spiderman and Spiderman II was better when it focused on character study and not the shakey-cam or motion-blur vomit ride we've all become accustomed to.

On another note, I just watched the pilot for Smallville last week. They must've decided to replay it for anyone who has been living under a rock. I was pretty amazed at the production value.

No Hulk, Daredevil or Dolph Lundgren's Punisher? No Captain America?

Not even Blankman, Meteor Man or Orgasmo?

I still think The Electric Company's Spiderman owned Raimi's incarnation.

I watched Spider-Man 2 last night. First time since seeing it in the theater, which I did only once.

It was a Superbit DVD. The sound was astounding. Beautiful, beautiful mix.

But as for the hoopla over this flick -- the gushing, the gaga -- I don't get it. I mean, the picture was great, maybe too good, because it revealed the cheesy VFX and substandard CGI rendering. If you want to show an example of why all-CGI effects have taken movies to a bad place, just show someone this flick.

And yes, as has been pointed out many times, it was pretty much a remake of Superman II, from the recap of the first movie in the opening credits, to the "my back!" direct reference toward the middle.

To say nothing of it trashing the character of Doc Ock.

Nope. I just don't see it. Why the love?

Superman is STILL a great movie. Its been on HBO a lot this week and I've seen it twice. Some of the effects are dated, but still a great movie.
