Superman the movie wins for me with serious opposition from batman begins and an honourable mention for the underrated movie unbreakable.

those are hard choices.....batman begins told a great story, but superman is classic. i thought the first batman movie was great too. i'm up in the air again.

i'm bringing the heat with my polls man. I'm giving the hard cuts here. Only the prime cuts.

Superman, but it has to be viewed in context. I know a lot of younger people who see it now and talk about how boring it is. It's a film from a different era and doesn't suffer from quick cuts and MTV editing. It's a solid, well-told story, and seeing a man fly in 1979 was just one of those experiences that should be in the history books.

yeah, the kids don't know how crazy it was to see that shot when kal el flys at you in the fortress of solitude. That flight has never been bettered in any film to date. it looked and STILL looks real. No CGI, nothing. He flew.

in my humble opinion, spiderman two was crap. it was a total rip off of superman II which to me wasn't even great anyway. it was like they were trying to make spiderman noble and meaningful with all that talk of morality and duty. Trouble is, it is such a silly film with CGI galore, I just can't take it seriously. Oh and note, the filmmakers invloved with that film are nothing compared to the crew of superman much less batman begins. Spiderman for me was popcorn (please note this is my opinion lol)

anyone who doesn't believe me, go and watch supes II again and study the story arc and events and cross reference with spiderman II. It is shocking how much of a rip it is.

I'm not sure that's a fair assesement. Every superhero has had the I'm not good enough / the fight isn't worth it / it's too much of a sacrifice story line. That's nothing new. The thing I couldn't stand about Spider-man 2 was the rediculous amount of teen angst in the film. I was dripping with it when I left the theater.

Chris

that's what i'm saying. It was made for a VERY specific age group and everyone else had to just fall into line. There was a fantastical element that people latched onto and of course, the hero at times like these always comes across well when the film is done well which this was. My problem is, while in supes II it was intrinsic in the story for superman to lose his powers and to gain them back and the strife he went through was cross age/cross ethnicity etc, spiderman was so damn specific. If you are not a teen, from the western world, SO much of that film will fly over your head and what's left is a very hollow CGI fest with contrived plot lines and poor character development. Come on, who cares about mary jane? She's technically slept with half the male characters in the first two movies by the time she gets to peter parker yet somehow the filmmakers try to paint this as a sweet love story fraught with barriers!

well, normally I'd choose "Unbreakable" but I would feel wrong, because it's not really a "Comic book" villain, like most Action Hero movies are, and I like it.

Batman Begins without a doubt was great, I loved it, the original superman is great as well, uhm. I'd go with Superman =)

unbreakable is a superhero movie through and through. It was just so well made and original, that most people don't realise it is a superhero film....even I didn't see it as such till sometime after watching it. If you look at it as a regular film, it can be a little dissapointing, but as a superhero film (first chapter) tale, it shines. The ending is not very good but the rest of it was really atmospheric and deserves mention. Oh and the music...quality.

Yep, amazing film over all though, best from him since "the sixth sense" without a doubt.

Spider-man is a teenager.

As far as it being a rip-off, Superman 2 is not the first time a character has questioned their responsibility and obligation -- what about Hamlet? And even that had source material.

ROOOOOOOK, I hate to go box office on you, but "cash rules everything around me" and both Spider-man and Spider-man 2 trump every movie you polled.

surf, why are some people so concerned about 4 measly polls??? every one of them is getting convos going and people are enjoying the convrsations and voting. WHy are some bothered by that? 20? that is a bit of an exaggeration from 4 that I actually did think about and consider what films to put in there to stimulate good discussion. I know you're voting and going to em so that's cool but people who don't want to don't have to. gee...you'd think I took someone hostage some of the reactions i've read. lol

Yeah true i totally agree with you. However, we are saying what's best not what made the most money. MI 2 is wack and is worse than MI 1 in my opinion but wow that film grossed half a bil in the US alone. That doesn't make it better than the bourne supremacy for example. i take your point though. Oh and on spidey being a teenager, that's why i hate spiderman even from my comic reading days. He can't be taken seriously...for me anyway. He is for a very specified audience OR for those that want a big loud fantasy movie (which I sometimes do i just don't like this).

this will kill ya ROKOKO, but even though i went for Superman, it was followed closely by Spider-man 2. everything else on that list was crap, imo.

Why no love for X-Men 2? I thought it was leaps and bounds better than the first X-Men movie.
