GREATEST FLIM OF ALL TIME - WHY

I have avoided this thread, because "Best Movie of All Time" is so subjective. But WTF.

I gotta go with Gone With The Wind.

Yeah, this is so subjective, and hard to separate personal favorites from what is really a "Gold Standard." (Personally, I think Reds is one of the all-time great epic films, but I'm a journalist, am drawn to that period of history, and really dig Warren Beatty and Diane Keaton -- impossible to separate those personal feelings from my judgement of the film as a whole).

But, I agree, GWTW totally holds up viewing after viewing; it's technical achievement for it's time was stunning AND it remains to this day beautiful to look at (whereas, CGI tends to look so dated so quickly these days, the old-school matte techniques used in GWTW really persevere).

And I still have a thing for Elizabeth Shue because of it.

Loved that movie!!

I have to agree... with Elizabeth, not Karate Kid.

Now "Manos, The Hands of Fate" ... that's a classic. One of the best MST3K's ever.

Alright, I have a confession. I have never seen Gone With The Wind.

Don't bother. I bought the DVD because I was in the same situation. Just goes on and on about some annoying chick who can't make her mind up. Can't say I ever want to sit through it again.

...take the bait...hehehe

John, I've never seen GWTW either... and I'm not really sure I care too. On another note, the guy who started this thread over a year ago has a sn very similar to mine... weird

If someone offered me an HVX200 to sit through Gone With the Wind again, I'd really have to consider telling them to go f*ck themselves.

Oh sh*t, a challenge.

Naw, I've learned enough around here to know not to got to the mat for a film. Movies are so subjective, that there is no way convince a person who does not like a movie to like it.

I am sad for people that do not see the greatness of GWTW. I'm even sadder, that these people are attempting to make films themselves.

Your turn.

This movie had it all. The drama, the action, the romance, and the ultimate villian - Sensei Kreese. Everyone should own a copy of this important film.

I would, if it were available in widescreen. Last I checked, it was full-screen only. :thumbdown

I just hope I didn't see yet the greatest film of all time...

If so, my life will be more and more boring...

"The Graduate" is one of the best. I tend to go for the more bizarre tho. "Leolo" is one of my favs. Anyone seen it? Very dark "comedy". Great photography. Directed by the late Jean-Claude Lauzon. Every filmmaker should see this film.

in my opinion... in no particular order The Godfather, Godfather II, Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Raging Bull are some of the greatest films of all time... sorry i didnt put just one... in my opinion all of these are great

I like Reservior Dogs more than Pulp Fiction. I'm among the extreme minority who doesn't care for Pulp Fiction much.
