Great site for collaborative writing

Many of us independant filmmakers collaborate on writting films. I found a great site that makes it so much easier to write scripts without the hassle of constantly having to schedule starbucks meets :)

Love the idea and whoever created it is a genius, thank you. :)

Looks interesting, although I don't see much information on just how powerful the actual program is for writing in general.

It's worth mentioning that FD has an online collab feature on their software as well.

Personally, I've never seen the attraction of working online with someone at the 'same time', but that's my pet peeve.

No problem always good to share such things :) I use final draft 7 at home, and found this online software very easy to get used to wrote a script with a friend today, and the workflow is great :) I'm tired of sending my friends PDF's and then having to go back and correct things meself, it's easier for them to just log and and read. Saves paper and ink hehe. I should have been in advertisement. :)

Seems like yet another 'glory over story' gimmick.

IMHO far too many young filmmakers are just not willing to put the time and effort needed into developing a story. And what they end up with is a mish-mash of 'pet' scenes held together with FADE TO BLACK.

Just can't wait to get behind the camera and start rollin', can ya?!!

90% of a good anything is prep.

Take restaurants for example. Wolfgang Puck will spend most of his time preparing ingredients for a particular dish. A slice here, a flambé there.

That as opposed to opening a can of Mac and Cheese, plopping it the micro, and daring to call it cuisine!. For those willing to accept less, it is.

Rembrandt would spend hours if not days preparing his paints and pallet before brush ever touched panel. That as opposed to tourist shlock on every wharf or in every hamlet across America.

Aim high and do the time, filmmakers, or live on Mac and Cheese for eternity!

My writing partner and I used Plotbot for a while. Not for collaborating with others, but between ourselves. After exploring its features I realized that it was set up perfectly for exchanging ideas. The interface is nice and it made for an easy time to go back and forth with our thoughts in a simple blog format. We did this scene by scene. However, when it came time to take the ideas and turn them into pages, Plotbot's limitations began to show. It was about that time we became aware of Celtx and we use that almost exclusively now.. and we both own FD7.
