i picked up this super book.

it is put out by the guy who created THX. tomlinson holman.

my favorite audio book of course was the jay rose one but this one is a little more up todate and it also sort of takes off where jay's book leaves off.

i just got a tremendous amount out of this book and i haven't even finished it.

tons of real world stuff. not a lot of pictures so its not the sort of book you will love just from a quick skim.

its called sound for digital video and it covers shooting, editing, mixing and mastering.

the cd that comes with it is very helpful.

SOUND for film and television isbn 0240804538. VERY good resource. I had him as an instructor at USC film school and it was awesome. Actually Spielberg walked into our class once (with his kid who was checking out the campus.)

Hmmm... Holman also has a newer book titled "Sound for Digital Video". I think this is the one that Matthewd5 was referring to but only he can say. I have not seen either so I can't comment although I'm definitely interested. Having the author as your instructor must have been even better, soarprod.

Yeah he was a great guy - kinda nerdy but in a good way :) Oh, we were the first class to get a demo of a 10.2 presentation - THE future for sure.

i put the name of the book in the body of the message...

it was sound for digital video.

his older book is supposed to be good too but this one is much more tailored to what we are doing.

Not to nitpick, Bpete, but Jay Rose's book is titled 'Producing Great Sound for Digital Video'. Pretty close just the same.

Thanks Matthew. Sounds like just what I am looking for. (no pun intended)
