Great Movie Lines

My personal favorite:

"Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!"--
Monty Python

"You just keep thinkin' Butch. That's what you're good at." -Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

"Welcome to Sherwood, my lady." -The Adventures of Robin Hood

"Kid, the next time I say, 'Let's go someplace like Bolivia,' let's go someplace like Bolivia." -Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

"You Maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you!. God damn you all to hell!" -The Planet of the Apes

"We didn't need dialogue. We had faces." -Sunset Blvd

"... I just saw a vision! I saw a goddess..." -American Graffiti

"Rommel, you magnificent bastard. I read your book." -Patton

"I don't feel I have to be loyal to one side or the other. I'm just asking questions" -12 Angry Men

"There'll be no locks or bolts between us, Mary Kate... except those in your own mercenary little heart!" -The Quiet Man

"Back home everyone said I didn't have any talent. They might be saying the same thing over here but it sounds better in French." -An American In Paris

"Why don't you make like a tree...and get outta here?" -Back To The Future

"As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a gangster." -Goodfellas

"You gentlemen aren't REALLY trying to kill my son, are you?" -North by Northwest

Had to go through this whole thread to make sure it wasn't already here. Surprise, it's not so:

"Get your stinkin' pause off me you damn dirty apes"!

Do I really need to add the title?

Little catchy phrases are easy. How about real lines?

"When Romeo and Juliet ran away from home, they didn't stop to say goodbye. When Leander swam the Hellespont to his beloved, he didn't bother to take a suitcase along. When Tristan falls in love with Isolde they have to sing for three and half hours, and all I'm asking you to do is hop into a cab and drive to the first Justice of the Peace. What are we waiting for?"

--Henry Van Cleve (Don Ameche) in Heaven Can Wait

Alright...not exactly one line....but one of my favorite exchanges:

You don't understand me, Johnny.
You don't know me very well.

I know you like a book. You're a no-good nosey little tramp.
You'd sell out your mother for a piece of fudge, but you're smart along with it.
You know when to sell, when to sit tight. You know to sit tight now.

I do?

You heard me. You like money.
You got a big dollar sign where most women have a heart.
So play it smart and you'll have money.
George'll have it and he'll blow it on you.
Probably buy himself a five-cent cigar.

You don't know me very well, Johnny.
I wouldn't think of letting George throw his money away on cigars.
Isn't there a big "if" in there somewhere?

Yeah, there's a couple of 'em.
If you're smart, keep your trap shut and don't nose around, you'll have money.
You'll be loaded with a capital 'L'.
If you don't, we'll forget the whole thing.
You won't have a penny.

I wouldn't like that and, frail as I am, I'd much prefer to be loaded.

I think we understand each other. Now beat it.

Movie anyone?

If only you could see what I have seen with your eyes - Blade Runner

Open the pod bay door Hal - 2001

They're coming to get you Barbara! - Night of the Living Dead

The Ayatollah of Rock and Roll-a! - Road Warrior

This might come in handy for some of our members here:

"I have no intention of taking a job. My work is going far too well---I cant afford to waste time earning money."-Arthur Rimbaud in Total Eclipse

"Hey Peter, Whats happening?" - Office Space
