Great deal on work lights at sears!

There are some great halogen work lights on sale at Sears until this Wednesday for only $19.99. I just picked up three of them in Thousand Oaks this morning. The top section can be removed to set them on the floor. Also each light has two settings giving you a total of 4 levels (250W, 500W, 750W, and 1000W).

For $20 each you can't go wrong.

What's a good way to diffuse these light without starting a fire.

Bead-blast the glass? Kinda permanent diffusion, though. (And I'll probably use sandpaper on mine....)

I believe they raise to a total of 70 inches. If by the lowest setting you mean height, if you notice in the photo above, the top section with the feet under the lights comes off and you can set it on the floor putting the lights maybe 5 inches off the floor. If by lowest setting you mean brightness, that would be 250W (one light turned on low).

The reason I bought the lights was to shoot real estate. I figured they would be a cheap solution to adding light in rooms.

The maximum height setting is usually my main problem with the stands that accompany work lights. They don't normally go very high. Search around a bit and you can find some that are taller.
