It's like saying how was this video edited? 
Motion, After Effects etc all work for this sort of thing. If you're using FCP X then learning Motion 5 should be something you look in to because of the way you can integrate this type of thing and still allow editing of parameters within FCP X, including speed, colours, positioning etc.
