Graffiti. Is. Art.

Some graffiti isn't art, some of it absolutely is. Just like any other medium. I think the rat is ripping off Banksy, but otherwise it's nicely done.
 
I am 60 years old. I think wall art is wonderful. Graffiti, the current term for it is fine. I think tagging is crap. I will not express my opinion of gangs and territorial marking, other than to say it is a far more pressing crisis than those abroad that many of those politicians prefer to deal with currently. That the walls outside my living room window are full of bad attempts at lettering by wannabe homeboys is crap. The horrible spray paint markings on my neighbour the plumbers truck that deface his name and phone number, his right to advertise his craft and make a living, are violent and a crime and those who did this should be arrested and made to pay in time and money. Growing up in the sixties and seventies with Peter Max and so many other artists expressing themselves outdoors proved that in certain situations art on a wall can certainly improve the appearance of not only a building but a neighbourhood. The issue is that not everyone is an artist and some are just idiots. The person and the art in this piece is wonderful, adds to the environment. Nice shooting!
