Gradient glow transition/overlay?

[pure1]

Hi, I was wondering if anyone know how to make these gradient flare-type transition. I seen them in many music videos, and I'm trying to figure out how to apply it.

If you look at 0:25 on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wxOVn99FTE thats what I'm trying to do. I'm not sure if its a video overlay, or some type of plugin?

Any insight is appreciated

thanks!

This is similar to what you're looking to do:

Looks like they might use some other piece of footage during the transition, but it stays overexposed and blurred so that can be anything.

There are some presets in AE for this. And I believe some plugins are available in FCP for this same type of effect as well.
