Gradient Filters used in post

Are these something you can make with Photoshop and and then implement in the editing process or is this the sort of thing that should be done in production with actual gradient filters over the lens?

For ND, do this in camera to control exposure and prevent "burnout"
For color, do this in post for the highest level of control.

I have created color and ND grads pretty easily in Combustion. I don't know about Photoshop.

yeah, you can do it easily in PS and preserve the opacity when you import to your NLE. Knock up a few different custom shapes and keep them in a bin in the NLE.
