What's the deal with gpu acceleration? I've read about Nvidia and Adobe teamed to make AVCHD fly...Is here any benefit with any other format like DvcProHd?

On certain effects, GPU acceleration will help, in fact starting with CS3 there's a folder for GPU-accelerated transitions.
But in general, no, I don't think it'll do much for DVCPRO-HD, which is already a very easy-to-decode, very fast-performing codec. GPU acceleration really helps with AVC-HD, and may help with AVC-Intra, which are both very complex, very difficult-to-decode codecs.
