OK - i edited and renamed my other thread - but it didnt seem to reflect it in the forum.....

just got the mics - didnt want to make a new thread to clutter the place up..)

so in the end it cost me $450AU (2x k3u +me40&me80) - just got a battery for them (camera hasnt arrived yet) - can someone tell me what the switches do?

i know one is for power on and off... but there is also a 3 way switch - is this the sensativity option? i hooked it up via a XLR - mic adapter and then into my sound system (i can't damage the mics by doing this can i?) - hope not cos i have already done it.....

Hi JustinT
No, I don´t think you can damage something by pluging in the mice and using the switches. I think they have something todo with attenuation. For example if there is a huming sound in a room you can use the switch to reduce it.
But maybe i am completly wrong about this.
Sound and Microphones are not really something I know much about, but because I bought a wireless system from senheiser not to long ago I know that there is a page where you can download Instructions and Technical info sheets for your mics.

http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/root/service_download_20050118164113

Maybe this will help you..
There is a huge list with all kinds of mics. Just find yours and download the instructions
... good luck.

thx turbo doesn't seem to have my exact model/powersupply unit - thx though...

o and my q regarding damage - was about weather pluggin it into a 3.5mm jack would damage it (via a xlr to 3.5 mm adapter)

the swich doesnt have anything incoment with attenuation , this is 2 stage low cut filter
if i remember correctly , 75 and 150 hz - or something simmilar
ill try to find the right spesifications for you

You probably found the info you needs, but that switch has to do low end roll off. You will be able to hear it when you have the mic turned in. When you move the switch it will roll off the low end. I find it works really well if you are hearing a low end fridge or humming, you can roll that right off and get rid of it!

Hope you love the mics, they are great mics, even being older, they are super reliable.

this is old and i completely forgot about this post - i did find out what the switch did in terms of sound, but good to hear the explanations...

unfortunately shortly after i got this and my camera I got a job in a post production facility working on superman (sounds good, but aint hehe - o the job not the move that is...)during nights - but this has completely stuffed up my sleeping patterns so i have had little time to use the camera or mics :(...

just one last Q if anyone knows, I got 2 K3u power units and its odd, when i use one with either of the 2 mic heads, it is fine, but the other one cause all kind of static - if i kinda move it around and adjust the cable etc it sometimes fixes it self.... anyone know if there is a quick fix for this?

thanks
