It's entirely possible I was directed to them from here, but maybe not. Anyway, if you go to www.collectorz.com you'll find some database software for cataloging your music, movies, books, etc.

Inexpensive. Decent. EASY, if you buy a handheld scanner, too.

And you can do cool stuff like this, so when someone wants to buy you a Christmas present, they can check to see what you already have. :)

That's what I've been doing this morning. My CDs are done. Now all I have are the 800 DVDs and the 2000 books, and the LPs (if I get really ambitious).

Oy.

That software looks pretty cheap (quality).

Haven't found it to be so. Hmmm...maybe I should just say it's as good as anything I could write. (I started writing my own a while back, gave up because the going-out-to-the-internet-databases-for-information part is a pain in the butt.) :)

For the Mac contingent, this is a pretty snazzy piece of software: Delicious Library.
I either use my iSight to zap the bar code or drag-and-drop an Amazon.com link and it fills in all the info.

Yeah listal is a new product born out of the delicious idea. Main difference being it's free, and webbased.
