hi i got the fs-100 today it cost me just over £1700 including the bracket to mount on the hvx 200, i have to say that after reading the manual everything worked fine for me , it is such a great difference being able to record more than 4 mins with my 4g p2 card
The only thing i dont like is the belt attachment when wearing it it feels a bit too slim shady but apart from that yeah everything ok

Wow 1700, I just checked the price here in the Netherlands and they have it for 2642 euro!! Good luck with it.

Any trouble with the firewire cable running to your belt? Is it a good, trustworthy connection?

I believe that Focus in working on an HVX200 specific solution with the JimmyBox folks.

If y'all write to Focus directly with what you'd like to see the FS-100 do in future upgrades, they'll listen!

i bought the mount that fits on the hvx i found the firewire that came with it was ok but i dont think i would ever try shooting while wearing the belt clip it is quite bulky to wear and i would be afraid of the cable coming out
i use final cut pro on both powermac and macbook pro and it connects and performs well ,i use 1080 25p setting and find it saves a lot of time i am looking into investing to get the higher capacity battery but i just found out that it does not fit on the monting bracket

I personally hate the belt clip, swings around too much and makes clicking noises. Go with the JimmyBox for sure!

I also looked into elbow joint FW connectors. There are a few of them out there. They make the FW connection more stable.

But the FW connection is about your only option. The cable it comes with is perfectly good, nothing wrong with it. Just get elbow joint connectors. I "think" Focus is looking for high quality "L" joints to supply for these units, eventually.

If you're just doing SD stuff, I'd stick with mini-DV tape.

NO! I even had a little bird tell me Panasonic themselves recommend not doing it! In fact, Focus, from what I understand, is even trying to switch to a JimmyBox solution. The JimmyBox is the only way to go. The FS-100 just has too much noise and vibration for the HVX200!
